LIVE LIGHT AND LIFE
19/02/24 14:39
It’s best to live free of misrepresentation and lies. To remain in the law and old covenant when our inheritance is the atonement/ incarnation is to be in the mindset of the separation of Adam. A curious phenomenon among some Believers can be their insistence on belonging to the Body of Christ while living in a mindset of separation from Christ, as a result of their misguided theology. To live life to the full we need to live in God’s life as given to us in Jesus Christ. This is living in the Reality that is Christ.
INTROSPECTION
Defining this life in our own terms, turns Christ’s unlimited life at best into confusion and at worst into a lie that robs us of who God is and who we are.
Since the cross, there has been no genuine revision of Jesus’ gospel of the Kingdom and no legitimate adjustment to the doctrine of Christ and the apostle’s teaching. Nor will there ever be. Thus, we must reject any rationalised undoing of the power of the cross and repent of any rejection of the new covenant, even when it comes as what we may think is a prophetic revelation. Both kinds of revisionism are actually doctrines of demons.
WAY, TRUTH, LIFE
The Living Way of spirit and life is to take our direction from Jesus and the apostles teaching. “We must believe God’s word concerning himself, and humbly accept such insight as he vouchsafes to give. We must make our choice between rejecting his witness, as the heathen do, or else believing in him as he is, and this in the only possible way, by thinking of him in the aspect in which he presents himself to us.” (1)
PROXIMITY IS NOT ONENESS
A theologian of some note, spoke of ‘new covenant theology’ as though to was a kind of Christian brand – a grave misinterpretation. The New Covenant is not a version of theology. It is what God has done in incorporating us in Himself in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the New Covenant – our guarantee of belonging in God in the Christ of God. We are in Christ in and with God.
Many of us have been brought up in the supposition that knowing about God gives us some proximity to God. I say ‘proximity’ because this does not give us union – which is already ours when we are astute enough to believe it. Union with God is the whole point of the cross, the resurrection and life in the Spirit. It’s called incarnation. Someone has written, “A spiritually mature Merton knew by a contemplative, intuitive grasp that oneness is less a goal toward which life is pressing, as it is a return to the truth in which we have always been held.” Live in your inheritance.
NOT GENERIC
The new wineskin is not generic salvation. It is restored oneness with God and personal – the realisation of Jesus impassioned prayer in John 17 and the living of Galatians 2.20,21. This scripture is not a passage about Christ near you. It’s about Christ as you. We can realise this today and enter the inheritance of oneness that has been ours since the cross. ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. Realise it now and come into an era of new life.
